Although artists have generally dispersed to explore exotic, fashionable new media, realist painting remains unsurpassed as a language for expressing complex thoughts and feelings with subtlety and precision.

There have been signs recently of a renewed interest in this language, and a concerted effort, not just to rediscover but to develop further, the skills and understanding necessary to use this language effectively.
