Although generally abandoned by contemporary artists, realist painting remains a unique language for expressing complex thoughts and feelings with subtlety and precision.

Demanding as it is, the technical ability required to make realistic representations is only the first part of acquiring this language. No less demanding is the challenge of how to progress from erratic exclamations, to controlled considered statements.

I am not a professional artist, and the work here is no more than the patient early stages of a long-term endeavour. Unfortunately, for the last few years, my itinerary has been interrupted by a persistent repetitive strain injury, however this is now improving and, hopefully, it will soon be possible to make further progress.

Many of the works shown here have commentaries discussing the intended aims and the success of the results.
