Hampshire Downs 2 Oil 46x32cm
This was my third attempt at landscape painting. I used a variety of source material for the objects, but the light and the scene itself were both completely invented.
I included a number of different aspects of the landscape but found it difficult to get them to unite as they do in nature.
The distortion of objects for expressive effect, and the bright but not entirely accurate colours led to an unintended cartoon like quality. However the picture does communicate something of the cornucopia of sensations to be found in a simple landscape.
